We believe in independent travel and subscribe to the notion we can travel to any part of the world without checked baggage or without being part of an organized group of travelers.

In this blog we intend to share our stories from having traveled to more than 120 countries over a period of forty-five years.

Arthur S. Dover, M.D. is a diplomat of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and the International Society of Travel Medicine. He has practiced primary care medicine in Santa Cruz County since 1975 and has traveled extensively and resided in Latin America. Formerly of the Parasitic Diseases Branch of the Epidemic Intelligence Service, (CDC, US Public Health Service), he has advised thousands of travelers and medical volunteer teams for missions around the world.

Now retired from his practice, he remains a great friend and inspiration.
